Snack bars are surging in popularity as consumers seek indulgent yet functional options. Explore 2025’s key trends, from kids’ bars and protein snacks to clean-label innovation.
Snack bars are experiencing a new wave of popularity as UK consumers increasingly seek balance between indulgence and health. Whether it’s a protein hit, a lunchbox treat or a convenient chocolate fix — bars are meeting a wide range of shopper needs.
At UF International, we’re seeing strong demand across both traditional and functional formats, making snack bars a reliable growth opportunity for retailers, wholesalers, and foodservice buyers alike.
Category Snapshot: Growth Across the Board
The UK snack bar market is up 3.9% in value and +0.3% in volume, reflecting a rise in treating behaviour as consumers turn to small indulgences during economic uncertainty.

Kids’ cereal bars are booming with +10.2% volume growth and +19.3% value — driven by:

Key performers include:
Nakd — benefiting from a clean-label, no added sugar positioning
Deliciously Ella — boosted by new ownership and refreshed branding
Bear — driving growth in the kids’ space with fruit-led innovation
Only three major players — Nature Valley, Cadbury, and Eat Natural — saw slight volume dips, largely due to increasing competition and shifting consumer preferences.
Larger pack sizes are also becoming more popular, reflecting value-for-money buying behaviour and family snacking habits.
One of the biggest trends reshaping the category is the merging of indulgence with health. Consumers no longer see these as opposing goals.
Functional NPD — particularly in the protein bar segment — is closing the gap between confectionery and healthy snacking.
